Over the last few days, we have been enjoying one of my favorite movies in class, In the Time of the Butterflies based on the book by Julia Alvarez. Everyone of the classes is at a different point, so I would say that looking into some of these sites would be like a spoiler. But, for those of you ready to know more or to see who the Mirabals & Trujillo really were and where that little house in Ojo de Agua was, here are some really good resources to look into.

Martes, el 10 de marzo - Los años en español

When we learn the past tense in Spanish, sometimes we never think about how to say years in Spanish, too. That's what today's lesson dealt with so that we could talk about when things in our pasts happened. If you go on to Spanish 3, you will have to read some biographical items or some historical articles, so it's important you know how to say years in Spanish so you don't sound like a total GRINGO, right? 

In our lesson today, we learned the numbers for stating the years and practiced saying all kinds of years for participation points. Check the activity page for practice with this skill. There is a writing activity and there will be a podcast as well as flashcards on the same concept.

Lunes, el 9 de marzo - El pretérito en mi vida

Today in class we shifted the focus away from just conjugating the preterite to using the preterite in real life communication. It's amazing to think about how much we actually speak in the past tense, but how we are just now learning it in Spanish. We used an organizer to get some thoughts down on paper about things that we've done, that have happened to us and that others have done but have effected us within our lifetimes. Tomorrow, we will start to talk to each other about our pasts. I hope you all don't have too many skeletons in those closets!

LAB DAY - REGULAR PRETERITE CONJUGATION - Viernes, el 6 de marzo

Today you will intensely practice conjugation of the PRETERITE TENSE. You may use your notes to do so, but at some point, I would put them aside and see how you do without them.

In order to access the specially made activities, you have to create a free account on CONJUGUEMOS.COM. Follow the instructions on the handout given to you in class today, but come back here to get to the right activities. I have linked exactly the ones I want you to work on here so you don't have to guess which ones to work on.

Take your pick of the activities you want to use or the order you use them. Work hard, but have fun!

1. Regular Preterite Conjugation Trainer - Practice conjugating REGULAR PRETERITE VERBS ONLY.

2. Preterite Conjugation - Spelling Changers - Practice conjugation of Spelling changing verbs in the preterite only in this activity.

2. Preterite Mix Conjugation Trainer - Practice conjugating with a mix of REGULAR and SPELLING CHANGE preterite verbs.
