Today in class we had a really busy day. We worked very hard on speaking drills to get us ready for that first oral assessment. I can't stress enough that you should be studying your vocabulary no matter what assignment I send home.

THURSDAY we have our first quiz. I am attaching the speaking tasks we did today as a resource that will give you an idea about the quiz questions. The quiz will cover Vocabulary 1.1 and how to use Conocer.

Hola estudiantes,

Today we introduced the first unit of the year, Unidad 1.1 ¿Quién soy yo?. In this unit our Communicative Goals are:

• to be able to describe ourselves in greater depth than ever before
• to be able to describe others in greater depth
• to state or ask about who we know and how well we know them
• to be able to compare and contrast people and things to each other

Keep referring back to that list to keep track of how well you are meeting those goals and preparing for our speaking test.

It's time to start school again, and I am so glad to have you in my classes! This year is going to be a year of building your fluency in Spanish, so I hope we can do whatever we need to to make you feel comfortable enough in class to speak your Spanish. Please take some time to familiarize yourselves with the blog and all the resources I have posted for your online. You can find the class resources just to the right of the page. Those items will never move, so you will always find them there. I have organized everything by the units we study, so just take a look at the unit name and number to keep track.

I am so looking forward to working with you this year. I expect great things from you all!
